Ash House #2
This White Ash Coffee Table tells a powerful story of resilience, transformation, and responsible craftsmanship. The solid white ash top was salvaged from a tree infested by now-banned ash borer beetles—material that would otherwise have been lost. Rather than discard it, the wood was reclaimed and reimagined, honoring the life of the tree while giving it a lasting new purpose.
Running through the center of the tabletop is a dramatic fractal burn, created using controlled electrical burning. The branching, lightning-like pattern traces the grain of the ash, creating a striking visual contrast against the pale wood and revealing the internal structure of the material in a way that feels both raw and intentional. Natural edge details and beetle-influenced markings remain visible, preserving the wood’s history and authenticity.
The base is constructed from repurposed turn-of-the-century wood beams, finished in a deep, matte tone. These century-old timbers provide a grounding counterpoint to the expressive top, blending industrial strength with historical character.
Both sculptural and functional, this coffee table is a statement piece that bridges environmental awareness, fine art, and furniture design—ideal for spaces that value story, sustainability, and bold, one-of-a-kind craftsmanship.
